  21.    1. Compression speed is significantly increased, by 30 - 40%
  22.       and sometimes even more depending on data types. Memory
  23.       requirements also are increased a little and now are about

  57.    1. Information for registered users:
  58.  
  59.       WinRAR and Rar for Linux versions 2.60 and above are registered
  60.       with a new, very secure, AV registration seal. The main advantage
  61.       of this new authenticity verification code is a significant
  62.       increase in the strength of the registration code and thus it's
  63.       use as a means of identification of the origin of a sealed archive.
  64.  
  65.       Unfortunately this also means that the old registration keyfiles
  66.       will not operate with the latest versions of Rar-Linux and WinRAR
  67.       and thus all keyfiles must be changed. This is a cost-free process
  68.       to the registered user.

  70.       Please read rereg.txt file for detailed instructions on updating
  71.       your keys.

  73.    2. Packing speed in the "Best compression" mode has been improved.
  74.       My thanks to Bulat Ziganshin for the hint which allowed me to
  75.       achieve this.

  77.    3. Increased speed of scanning for large numbers of files before
  78.       archiving operations. Memory management also is optimized,
  79.       so now it is possible to handle hundreds of thousands,
  80.       or even millions of files.

  82.    4. RAR shows the total percentage of processed data when archiving
  83.       instead of the current file percentage as before.
  84.  
  85.    5. New switch -df - "Delete files after archiving". Command
  86.       "rar a -df" is equal to "rar m".
  87.  
  88.    6. New switch -ag - "Generate archive name using the current date".
  89.       Appends string "DDMMYYHHMMSS" to an archive name when creating an
  90.       archive. Useful for daily backups.
  91.  
  92.    7. New switch -as - "Synchronize archive contents". If this switch
  93.       is used when archiving, those archived files which are not
  94.       present in the list of the currently added files, will be deleted
  95.       from the archive. It is convenient to use this switch in
  96.       combination with -u (update) to synchronize the contents of an
  97.       archive and an archiving directory. For example, after the
  98.       command:

  100.       rar a -u -as backup sources\*.cpp
  101.  
  102.       the archive 'backup' will contain only *.cpp files from sources
  103.       folder. It looks similar to creating a new archive, but with the
  104.       one important exception - if no files are modified since a last
  105.       backup, this operation is performed much faster than creation of
  106.       new archive.

  108.    8. Unrar sources are removed from the distributive. You can download
  109.       them separately from www.rarsoft.com.  This is to reduce size of
  110.       the RAR package.

  112.    9. Command "S" now can be applied to an existing SFX archives
  113.       to replace one SFX module with another.

  118.    1. Now RAR/Linux accepts same registration codes as RAR/DOS
  119.       and WinRAR, so a single registration is enough for the all
  120.       three platforms. Already registered RAR/Linux users should
  121.       write to ron@knowledgebase.fi to obtain new keys for free.

  123.    2. Both packing speed and compression ratio have been improved.
  124.  
  125.    3. CRC of packed data is now stored for file parts split between 
  126.       volumes. It allows localization of a damaged volume, if volumes 
  127.       set contains one large compressed file.

  129.    4. New command line switches:
  130.  
  131.       a) -sv - create independent solid volumes. This switch has
  132.          the same meaning as the option "Independent solid volumes"
  133.          described above;
  134.  
  135.       b) -ap<path> - set path inside archive. It allows to add files
  136.          to a specified archive folder when archiving or to remove
  137.          the specified part of path from file names when extracting;
  138.  
  139.       c) -- switch stops further switches scanning. It can be useful,
  140.          if you need to use in the command line a file or archive name
  141.          beginning with '-' character.
